Engineers Without Borders Bolivia Project

Our Bolivia project is focused on bringing clean water to Llojlla Grande, a small community of about 200 people that is 2.5 hours outside of La Paz.

The community currently relies on 34 shallow wells that are contaminated with arsenic, manganese, and high levels of coliform bacteria and E. Coli.
We have spent the last few years developing plans to use a deep well along with a solar pump and piping system to distribute clean water throughout the community. We have made lots of progress with this project, but have recently had complications due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions.

We are currently working to finish the north side of the community. We have already acquired enough money to pay for the cleaning of the north well, solar pump and installation, construction of the elevated steel structure, and security fence around the solar pump and panels.

We still need funding for piping for the entire system, the 10,000 L water tank, and materials for tap stands. Now that we are working remotely, we also need funding to hire contractors to dig the trenches, install piping, and build tap stands. The total amount we still need is estimated at $12,000. This estimate was determined by quotes from our contact in Bolivia.

Once we secure funding for these contractors and materials, we will be able to have this side of the community completed with the help of EIA, Engineers in Action, in Bolivia before turning our focus to the Southern side of the community.

Thanks To Our Recent Donors!
