Funds raised for this trip help to offset the costs for students' travel and lodging. While all students will be responsible for a portion of the cost of the trip, donations in support of this experience help make it accessible to every student.
Mustang Band Trip to Normandy, France
The Mustang Band has been invited to be part of the D-Day 2021 Memorial Parade in Sainte-Mère-Église in Normandy, France, where they will proudly be the official band performing during the ceremonies held at the American Cemetery in Brittany and the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach. This trip is a unique opportunity and a rare honor bestowed on few universities. As such, it is not something included in the Mustang Band's annual operating budget, which means we must seek additional support to make this trip possible..
This is an incredible honor for SMU, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students. Help us make history with your support! Each student must cover approximately $800 in travel costs. Please consider donating to raise these much-need funds so that all band members may participate in this rare honor.
All gifts made by December 31st will be matched up to $100,000 by our generous alumni Nancy and Ray Hunt. If donor generosity exceeds the D-Day 2021 Parade trip goal, excess funds will continue to benefit the Mustang Band through the Mustang Band Recruitment and Retention Fund.
