Remembering Buddy

Thank you so much for partnership and for investing in the legacy of Dr. Gray. We are thrilled to announce that we have reached our goal of $100,000. Though we hit the mark, we’re going to continue this initiative as a token of stewardship to Dr. Gray and to increase the award offering for our students.

We know that there are many reputable institutions in which you can make a gift. Knowing this, we promise to be faithful stewards of your investment in us. Pony Up!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry L. (Buddy) Gray was a beloved SMU Professor, beginning in 1973 in his role as the Frensley Endowed Chair of Mathematical Sciences and serving until his retirement in 2006. During his time at SMU, he also served as Associate Dean of Dedman College (the School of Humanities and Sciences) from 1980-1988, Dean ad interim of Dedman College from 1988-89, and Dean of Dedman Collge and Vice Provost from 1989-1991.

His legacy at SMU and his love for students inspired his family to create “The Dr. Henry L. Gray Endowed Scholarship for Dedman College” for first-generation college students given on a need or merit basis who are interested in majoring in mathematics, statistics or the sciences . This scholarship will provide support for the brightest minds at SMU and will truly honor the legacy befitting Buddy.

Your memorial gift will help ensure that Buddy’s memory will live on for generations. We invite you to join in the creation of a lasting tribute that will live on at SMU through future students and recognize Buddy’s impact on the university.
