The outpouring of generosity and support for students financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic is inspiring. Students have continued to thrive in their studies, adapting to a new normal of on campus and remote learning. However, many will face stressors such as financial uncertainty or unexpected income loss.
In order to help financially impacted students, SMU seeks continued support for the Presidential Fund for Immediate Needs.
This spring SMU launched the Presidential Fund for Immediate Needs to address the evolving ramifications of the pandemic, including emergency financial support for students. The current economy has made off-campus jobs more difficult to find for students who rely on them. And SMU staff are noticing an increasing number of requests for aid that far exceeds the support they’ve awarded in previous years.
